El Ghashy at Falaki Mainstage Theater

On the night of a theatre performance on the outskirts of Fayoum, five worlds collide: a theatre director, a young actress, a censorship employee, a powerful film producer, and a fading star from a bygone era. As ambitions clash and old wounds resurface, the night spirals into a series of disasters.

Who will bask in the spotlight and who will become bait in a merciless game?

“El Ghashy” is a contemporary Egyptian reimagining of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, a world of tangled desires, unrequited love, and the relentless pursuit of fame and glory and artistic fulfillment. A story about our dreams, the sacrifices we make for our ambitions, and what remains of us when the spotlight fades.
