Well well well… What a time to be alive. Last Monday, Google hosted an all-day event at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza announcing their plans for Egypt. The event was attended by Google MENA team along with a cohort of Egyptian government officials including H.E Rania El Mashat Minister of Tourism and H.E Ghada Waly Minister of Social Solidarity.

Google has announced several initiatives enabling Egyptian youth to unlock their potential in the digital world by training 100,000 Egyptians by the end of 2019 through “Learn Digital with Google” program. This will assist 25,000 Egyptians with finding a job or develop in their current role. Google will take a bigger role in supporting local companies digitally by showcasing 200,000 companies. In addition to forming an Egyptian team in Cairo in the next few months led by Google Egypt’s Country Manager Hesham El Nazer to manage future projects and initiatives.

According to Google’s Impact report, a research with Public First that 1,000 Egyptians from different cities in Egypt participated in, Google contributes annually to the Egyptian economy with 5.2 bn EGP with Google Ads, YouTube Ads and Android mobile systems. Free services such as Google Search, Google Maps and YouTube are estimated at 131 bn EGP annually.
